Drone Delivery Canada Corp. has entered into multiple commercial agreements with the Edmonton International Airport, Apple Express Courier, and Ziing Final Mile Inc.
Under the agreements, Drone Delivery Canada (DDC) will enable defined-route delivery from Edmonton International Airport (EIA) for deliveries off airport property utilizing the Sparrow drone and its DroneSpot takeoff and landing zones, as well as additional drone flight infrastructure as required.
DDC explains EIA, Apple Express and Ziing will use DDC’s drone platform to transport a variety of cargo. Flights will be remotely monitored by DDC from its Operations Control Centre located in Vaughan, Ontario.
DDC states it will begin deployment of site infrastructure shortly and expects to begin providing drone delivery services under these commercial agreements in the third quarter of 2021. The agreements, according to DDC, provide for the payment of up-front fees and monthly fees for managed services for the project term of 12 months.
DDC states these agreements will represent the first use of an automatic delivery drone to provide B2B cargo delivery at EIA. They also represent DDC’s first commercial contracts in Alberta and with courier companies.
DDC states the customers involved expect expanding to further routes and utilizing the full fleet of DDC drones in the future, including the Robin XL and Condor.
