April 1, 2016, Squamish, B.C. – Atwell Aerospace Inc. has announced that it has received a Standing Special Flight Operating Certificate (S-SFOC) allowing commercial use of an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) anywhere within the province of British Columbia for a one year term.

Atwell Aerospace operates the senseFly eBee (www.sensefly.com) and uses this platform to serve its client base for commodity and landfill stockpile volume analysis, 3D mapping, and GIS data collection. The aerial imagery that is captured is processed into 2D orthomosaics and 3D models.

“The momentum we have been experiencing over the past year for our drone based services has been primarily driven by providing aerial data quickly and cost-effectively,” said Vincent Hoog, Atwell Aerospace president and CEO. “The accuracy of our data and the nonintrusive nature of our operations when compared to terrestrial based surveying are providing very real benefits to our clients.”
